Boiled linseed oil is processed raw linseed oil and dries faster than raw linseed oil. It penetrates the material, supports a moisture-regulating finish and does not form a thick, sealing varnish layer. Apply the oil in a thin, even coat using a flat brush, then wipe away surplus material with a lint-free cloth. Depending on substrate absorbency, theoretical coverage is approximately 10–15 m² per litre. Use the product at temperatures of at least 5 °C on a clean, dry and grease-free surface. Always manage application and disposal cloths safely: cloths containing drying oil can generate heat and may self-ignite. Leave used cloths fully unfolded to dry on a non-combustible surface, or store them under water in a sealed metal container.

Suitable substrates

Apply the oil to a clean, dry, absorbent and well-prepared substrate.

• Porous untreated timber: Use on bare wood that can absorb the oil evenly.
• Sanded timber: Treat sanded wooden surfaces once all sanding dust has been removed.
• Dry weathered wood: Apply to dry, sound timber after removing loose fibres and contamination.
• Clean metal: Use on clean, dry, rust-free or correctly prepared metal where the product application permits.
• Previously linseed-oil-treated timber: Maintain existing linseed oil finishes after cleaning and lightly de-nibbing where necessary.

Instructions for use

Follow these numbered steps for an even treatment and safe use.

1. Prepare the surface: Remove dirt, dust, grease, loose fibres, loose paint and moisture; the substrate must be clean and dry.
2. Check application conditions: Work at temperatures of at least 5 °C and avoid very cold, wet or sun-heated surfaces.
3. Stir the oil well: Stir gently before starting so that the contents are homogeneous.
4. Apply a thin coat: Apply a thin, even layer with a flat brush or suitable lint-free cloth, following the wood grain.
5. Allow penetration: Let the oil penetrate the material and assess the absorbency of the surface.
6. Wipe off excess oil: Thoroughly remove any oil that has not absorbed using a clean lint-free cloth to avoid tackiness and glossy patches.
7. Allow to dry: Let the treated surface dry fully and provide good ventilation; drying time depends on temperature, humidity and coat thickness.
8. Clean tools: Clean brushes and tools immediately after use with white spirit in accordance with the safety directions on the label.
9. Dispose of cloths safely: Lay used cloths fully open to dry on a non-combustible surface, or store them under water in a closed metal container because of self-heating risk.
