Short answer: Houthandel Jan Sok cuts beams, boards, battens, posts and sheet material to size from stock in Meppel. You send a list of sizes or a sketch. We prepare a free cutting list with a price indication, usually within 1 to 2 working days. You then collect the timber or we deliver it.
What do we cut to size?
- Beams and posts to length: Douglas fir, spruce, pressure-treated pine, Okan and oak. See timber sizes.
- Boards and battens to length, for example for a fence, cladding or a frame.
- Sheet material in strips or panels: plywood 9, 12 and 18 mm, film-faced plywood 12 and 18 mm, OSB, underlayment and chipboard.
Special cuts such as mitres, angled ends or notches are assessed per order. Ask in advance so you know where you stand.

How to send a good cutting list
- List the timber, the cross-section and the net length for each part.
- Add the quantity and mark parts that must fit exactly.
- For sheet material, say which face stays visible.
- Send the list or a photo of your sketch via the quote page or by email.

Why have it cut to size?
- Less sawing and waste on site.
- You pay for what you use, not for offcuts you cannot use.
- Heavy beams and large sheets come off the truck in sizes that fit.
After cutting, treat the end grain: open cuts absorb water fastest. Seal the cut edges of sheet material with primer or paint.

Collect in Meppel or have it delivered. Truck delivery in the Netherlands costs €125 and is free from €2,500 (Wadden Islands excluded). See transport.

Do you also cut sheet material to size?
Yes, plywood, film-faced plywood, OSB, underlayment and chipboard are also cut to size. Give net sizes and say which face should be the good side.
Do I need to allow for saw loss?
Every cut takes a few millimetres. If you calculate yourself, add 5 to 10 percent extra material. If we prepare the cutting list, we include the saw loss.
