Product description
This PVC reducer Ø125 x Ø80 with solvent weld socket connects a 80 mm rainwater downpipe to a 125 mm pipe or fitting. It is an insert reducer: the Ø125 mm outer end slides into the socket of the 125 mm line, and the 80 mm downpipe is solvent-welded into the glue socket on the inside. One part makes the transition, keeping the connection short. The reducer is made of grey PVC (polyvinyl chloride, RAL 7037) by Dyka and matches standard grey PVC pipes and fittings. A typical spot is the foot of the downpipe, where the gutter drain goes into the ground and joins the 125 mm underground pipe to the sewer or a soakaway. Order the reducer online or collect it from Houthandel Jan Sok at Celsius 10 in Meppel.
Key features
Why this reducer is practical:
- Ø125 x Ø80 mm: makes the transition from a 80 mm downpipe to a 125 mm line.
- Insert design: the 125 mm end slides into an existing socket, so the joint stays compact.
- Ø80 mm solvent weld socket: glue the downpipe in place for a watertight joint.
- Grey PVC: same material and colour as standard grey drain pipes.
- Dyka: reducer from a Dutch manufacturer of plastic piping systems.
Applications
Suitable for, among others:
- Connecting a 80 mm rainwater downpipe to a 125 mm underground pipe.
- The transition from roof drainage to the sewer or a soakaway.
- Connecting a 80 mm pipe to a 125 mm fitting, such as a bend or T-piece.
- Replacing an old or cracked transition at the foot of the downpipe.
Connects to
The reducer fits:
- PVC pipe or downpipe Ø80 mm, solvent-welded into the glue socket.
- PVC pipe or fitting with an Ø125 mm socket, into which the insert end slides.
Installation
Install the reducer in six steps:
- Cut to length: cut the 80 mm pipe square and deburr the cut edge.
- Dry fit: push pipe and reducer together without glue first and check the insertion depth.
- Clean: clean and degrease the bonding surfaces with PVC cleaner.
- Glue: apply PVC solvent cement to pipe and socket, push them fully together in one movement and wipe off excess cement.
- Fit: slide the 125 mm end into the socket of the 125 mm line; if that is a solvent weld socket, glue this joint the same way.
- Let it cure: only load the joint after the drying time stated on the cement packaging.

Frequently asked questions
How do I connect a 80 mm downpipe to a 125 mm drain?
Use this PVC insert reducer Ø125 x Ø80. Solvent-weld the 80 mm downpipe into the glue socket and slide the 125 mm end into the socket of the underground pipe or fitting.
What is the difference between an insert reducer and a standard reducer?
An insert reducer slides into the socket of the larger pipe or fitting. That makes the transition shorter than with a separate reducer that has its own spigot and socket end.
Do I need to glue this reducer?
The 80 mm end is a solvent weld socket: glue the pipe in with PVC solvent cement after cleaning with PVC cleaner. If you slide the 125 mm end into a solvent weld socket, glue that joint as well.
