Product description
This PVC concentric reducer Ø40 x Ø32 spigot/socket makes the transition between two pipe sizes in a drain line. The outside is an Ø40 mm spigot that goes into the socket of the 40 mm pipe or fitting. The socket on the inside takes the 32 mm waste pipe, for example from a washbasin or hand basin. On a concentric reducer the small opening sits exactly in the centre. That is the usual choice for vertical pipes, where the water falls straight down. The reducer is made of grey PVC by Dyka and matches standard grey PVC waste pipes and fittings. It is joined with PVC solvent cement. Order the reducer online or collect it from Houthandel Jan Sok at Celsius 10 in Meppel.
Key features
Why this reducer is practical:
- Ø40 x Ø32 mm: transition from a 32 mm drain to a 40 mm line.
- Concentric: the small opening is centred, suited to vertical pipes.
- Spigot/socket: the spigot fits an existing socket, the small pipe goes into the reducer's socket.
- Compact: a ring instead of a long reducer, keeping the transition short.
- Grey PVC by Dyka: same material and colour as standard grey waste pipes.
Applications
Suitable for, among others:
- Connecting a 32 mm drain from a washbasin or hand basin to a 40 mm line.
- Connecting a 32 mm pipe to a 40 mm fitting, such as a bend or T-piece.
- Vertical drain lines, where the pipe runs straight down.
- Renovations where an existing pipe has a different size from the new drain.
Connects to
The reducer fits:
- PVC waste pipe Ø32 mm, solvent-welded into the reducer's socket.
- PVC pipe or fitting with an Ø40 mm socket, into which you glue the spigot.
Installation
Install the reducer in six steps:
- Cut to length: cut the 32 mm pipe square and deburr the cut edge.
- Dry fit: push pipe, reducer and socket together without glue first.
- Clean: clean and degrease the bonding surfaces with PVC cleaner.
- Glue: apply PVC solvent cement to spigot and socket and push the parts fully together in one movement.
- Wipe: wipe off excess cement straight away.
- Let it cure: only load the joint after the drying time stated on the cement packaging.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an eccentric and a concentric reducer?
On an eccentric reducer the small opening sits against the edge, so the bottoms of both pipes are level. You choose it for horizontal pipes. On a concentric reducer the opening is in the centre; it is usually used in vertical pipes.
How do I connect a 32 mm drain to a 40 mm pipe?
Use this reducer Ø40 x Ø32. Glue the spigot into the socket of the 40 mm pipe or fitting and the 32 mm pipe into the reducer's socket.
Do I need to glue the reducer?
Yes. Grey PVC drainage is joined with PVC solvent cement. Clean and degrease the bonding surfaces with PVC cleaner first, then push the parts fully together in one go.
