How long does hardwood last?
Untreated hardwood (such as Azobé or Okan) lasts 25–40 years, depending on the species and application.
Does hardwood need to be treated?
No, hardwood is naturally durable (class 1–2). You can oil it to preserve its warm colour.
What is the difference between Azobé and Okan?
Azobé (durability class 1) is slightly harder and heavier than Okan and is widely used for hydraulic engineering and bank protection. Okan is lighter but also very durable, and popular for posts and structural use. Both species last 25–40 years.
Do you supply FSC-certified hardwood?
Yes, the vast majority of our hardwood is FSC- or PEFC-certified. This guarantees timber sourced from sustainably managed tropical forests. Ask about available certifications per species.
What lengths is hardwood available in?
We supply hardwood posts and beams in standard lengths from 200 cm to 600 cm. Decking boards are available up to 580 cm. Need non-standard sizes? Contact us for custom cutting.
